The 2009 legislature passed a law requiring construction site workers in Nevada to complete Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) 10 hour training and construction supervisors to complete OSHA 30 hour training. The statute becomes effective January 1, 2010. Construction worker means a person who actually performs physical work at a construction site that results in the construction, alteration or destruction involved in the construction project including without limitation painting and decorating; or who supervises any person engaged in that work A construction site is any location at which construction work is being commenced or is in progress. The OSHA Outreach Training Program is a program to train workers in the basics of safety and health hazard recognition and prevention. The curriculum includes 10 or 30 hours of actual classroom instruction developed by OSHA, but does not include time allotted for breaks or meals for the students. Construction Workers Must Take OSHA’s 10-hour Construction Course which is an introduction to OSHA and its Construction Standards, 29 CFR 1926, covering several subparts of the standard with emphasis on Nevada enforcement activities. The Construction Supervisors 30-hour Construction Program provides training in OSHA’s Construction Standards, 29 CFR 1926, and is an expanded version of the 10-hour course. We can conduct both the 10 hour and 30 hour courses for you and your employees.
